Khumbulani Craft
Khumbulani Craft was established in 1999 as a Section 21 Company Not-For-Gain with the purpose of contributing towards poverty alleviation through the design, production, marketing and sale of traditional and contemporary craft. Khumbulani Craft is currently working with approximately 350 crafters in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga.

Objectives
• To ensure that the products are as environmentally sustainable as possible.
• To ensure that skills transfer empowers stakeholders i.e. primary stakeholders receive adequate training in all
aspects related to craft production and supply (business management, environmental responsibility, quality control,
pricing, delivery, markets, etc);
• To ensure that all role players and stakeholders understand the requirements and expectations of buyers.
• To explore and develop indigenous skills and raw materials in South Africa for new products.
• To pursue a determined sales strategy.

Craft workers are not employed by Khumbulani Craft. They are, rather, commissioned to fill orders. Training and mentoring is an ongoing aspect of Khumbulani Craft’s service to rural communities.
