TIGER’S EYE PARTNERSHIP

Khumbulani Craft signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Tourvest Holdings (Pty) Limited T/A Tiger’s Eye in 1999 whereby Tourvest allocated 5% of post-tax profits from two outlets at Johannesburg International Airport and a 27% stake in Indaba Curios to Khumbulani Craft.

In July 2002  Khumbulani Craft signed a Heads of Agreement with Tiger’s Eye whereby Khumbulani Craft has a 30% shareholding in the Park Retail Specialists. Since the partnership with Khumbulani Craft was established some nine years ago, Tourvest has paid over R12 million in dividends and post tax profits to assist rural crafters through Khumbulani Craft.  Some 90% of Tourvest's merchandise is procured in South Africa, which includes the crafters working through Khumbulani Craft. "This is meaningful broad-based wealth creation and we are delighted with its progress," says Eric de Jager,  Managing Director of Tourvest's Retail Merchandising division.

Dividends received are a significant component of Khumbulani Craft and The Siyazisiza Trust’s annual financial requirements in achieving their mission of contributing towards poverty alleviation in rural areas of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.

Tiger’s Eye is an important buyer of Khumbulani Craft product.
